The first Baby Room was opened on Webbs Road in 2005 by Alison Murray after she returned to work following the birth of her first child. Alison wanted Baby Room to be:
- small – small groups of children in each room (the maximum class size is 12 children)
- local – parents would be able to drop off their children as part of their existing commute to work
- safe - put safety at the heart of its responsibilities
- well staffed and qualified - higher than Ofsted required staff ratios and qualifications
- consistent - would not use any temporary or agency staff
- well managed - any concerns or issues dealt with openly with reference to an experienced and well qualified management team
There are now four Baby Room Nurseries located in Clapham, Balham and Battersea in South London.
Alison Murray, Managing Director
Alison graduated with a degree in Risk Management in 1988 and then spent the next 16 years working in the London insurance market. This included underwriting insurance contracts, as well as strategic project work engaging teams to achieve changes of culture or practice. Richard Harffey, Finance Director
Richard joined Baby Room in 2009 and primarily takes responsibility for financial controls. Previously Richard spent over 25 years in the reinsurance market having graduated in English Literature at Cambridge. Contact Richard at richard@babyroom.co.uk
